BlackHouse, Sep. 21 – Iraq is in a real crisis because of Barzani’s insistence on breaking up Iraq, said Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs.
According to the newspaper Al-Riyadh, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir stated in his remarks in New York: “Iraq is in a real crisis because of Barzani’s insistence on breaking up Iraq. If Barzani insists on his demand of breaking up, Baghdad and Erbil will face a serious challenge.”
Adel al-Jubeir warned against interfering in the Iraqi affairs and stated: “interfering in the Iraqi internal affairs makes things worse. There would be a military conflict between Baghdad and Erbil. It is not in the interest of any country. ”
“Baghdad and the Kurdistan region of Iraq are on the verge of full-fledged war. If it happens, Iraq will become more and more devastated and Kurdistan and Iraqi Sunnis will become weaker,” al-Jubeir added.
“The weak administration of the central government of Baghdad, Barzani’s insistence on his impossible demand and also other countries’ intervention in the Iraqi affairs are the reasons for increasing crisis,” he added.
“It seems that Barzani does not pay much attention to the wishes of his nation and Sunni people. It should not suppress the rightful demands of the Kurds and Sunni people in Iraq for personal interests, he said.” He called for postponement of the referendum so perhaps the crisis will be resolved through another way in the near future.
